Raised by a classically trained pianist from the Philippines and a professional stage actor, Chrislen grew up surrounded by the arts. She studied creative writing and film at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York before continuing her education at Berklee College of Music, where she explored music production, composition, and film scoring, creative disciplines that continue to shape her approach to storytelling.
